While listening to a friend of mine complain about a flat earther coworker I came up with (i think?) a novel flat earth model (see picture)

See, we live on these concentric walls and are held to them by the mass of the ice wall on the outside plus the fact that the whole planet is spinning. It's spinning clockwise in the northern hemisphere, hence clockwise (illustration is the southern hemisphere side of the disk obv.) The sky is painted on the 'back side' of each ring.

In order to go to the southern hemisphere you have to cross the equator (hole in the middle.)

Oceans are on the 'bottom' of the disk since water is heavy, but the sloshing around from the disk make waves.

This also explains why northern countries like Canada and Russia are so big: they're occupying the biggest rings (next to the wall.)

The other aspect is that I start to wonder if it is even ethical to publish on the web anymore. I won’t benefit from it, people won’t find it so they will also not benefit. But who will it help to become multi-billioner? Samuel fucking Altman. We are creating an all-he-can-eat buffet for him, while we won’t even get to eat the leftovers. And this makes me very sad.

We are actively parti[ci]paiting in our own destruction, because it’s fun. And while we never agreed to it, the result is still the same.

I have entirely similiar thoughts. As far as I read, AI crawlers just siphon off everything without recognizing robots.txt. For sure good stuff is still useful for other people, but it boils down to question how much we lose through feeding ShitBot and how much we gain through keeping knowledge for real people. On the other hand, Samuel fucking Altman is not eternal, nor CloseAI. Also there is purely nothing I can do on this thing. Just thoughts.

Those thoughts are 100% valid, but what can we do? Keep making songs, writing stories, entertaining humans (fuck bots and robots, except Aibo, Aibo is awesome) and hope for better days. Altering your morals, ethics or ideals, whatever you call them, because of fear of AI overlords, might not be the best thing to do: for us, and definitely not for the future. Keep writing, friends.
