SUBMIT YOUR SITE!

Post by oracle »

Just like last year, it is possible to submit a url
to your blog, gopher hole and/or gemini capsule to
the OCC participants list.

The command is listed on the homepage of occ.deadnet.se,
as well as an interactive way through gopher/proxy.

Code: Select all

 $ echo "/cgi-bin/submit?https://my.site" | nc occ.deadnet.se 70
To submit your page, replace https://my.site with the
right url. Be sure to include the protocol (ie gemini://)

Or visit
gopher://occ.deadnet.se/1/users
or
https://portal.mozz.us/gopher/occ.deadnet.se/1/users
to submit your page manually.

Or reply to this thread :ugeek: :ugeek: :ugeek: :ugeek:

I'm new to hosting a gopher server, so I prefer to submit here, since I have a minor concern about what specific link I should submit...

The url for my page should be

Code: Select all

gopher://nagoya.sunoc.omg.lol
however using it seems to only display the first paragraph of the index.gph.

Code: Select all

gopher://nagoya.sunoc.omg.lol/1/
is the link that seems to display the index page correctly.

Is this a normal behavior ?

I use w3m as a gopher viewer in my terminal. Using

Code: Select all

w3m -M -4 gopher://nagoya.sunoc.omg.lol
I see a page with links to a number of directories and files. See below.

Code: Select all

keith@NC10:~$ cat sunoc
Index of gopher://nagoya.sunoc.omg.lol/1

Hi, I'm sunoc! Welcome to my Gopher Hole where I'll be blogging
about the Old Computer Challenge 2024 and maybe other stuff.

I followed the Day 0 link and saw this text

Code: Select all

Index of gopher://nagoya.sunoc.omg.lol/1/day0.gph

** Work in progress **
Before starting the challenge, I wanted to set a gopher server in order to
be able to publish my notes about it.

Hello Oracle and all

I used the form to add my Web page at

http://www.k58.uk/pages/occ24/

to the list and realised that the title wasn't too informative - I've changed the title now. Not sure if the script will pick up a change like that, and can't resubmit as form does not appear allow that.

I'll get the hang of this one year.

EDIT: it has been sorted so ignore this

Hello!

No worries, I actually write the list by hand and try to deduce the theme from the link :) I've changed it now to reflect the title of your html page. Hope it's okay this way.

I submitted my site (https://ddlyh.smol.pub/) through the form but the title of my challenge on the website has just been listed as "no phones". My actual challenge is in fact the same as last year (using a 128MB of RAM, Pentium III laptop running TinyCore 6.3), but with the addition that I'm trying not to use my smartphone for stuff (though I have checked work emails etc. and I rely on it for password managers and radio streaming - basically, I'm really just not using it for scrolling social media or looking up stuff on the web, though I'm trying to avoid looking at home emails on it). Anyway, it would be good if my challenge description could be changed to reflect that, though I understand if it'll take some time as I know that it would have to be manually updated.

Also, I don't know if it's possible to do this, but since my blog is on smol.pub, it also works for Gemini (gemini://ddlyh.smol.pub/) and Gopher (gopher://smol.pub/1/ddlyh/), so I don't know if you wanted to include those somehow?

Anyway, sorry for the bother and thanks for all the work on everything.

Sorry about that, hope it's okay now. I'll tell matto tomorrow, he's in charge of the gemini and gopher sites and he'll add your links.
