I thought a bit about using one of the alternative OS of the early 00s (sadly OsDev seems rather dead these days). Namely AtheOS, Syllable or maybe even one of the assembly based ones (e.g. MenuetOS). But decided against it, as that woudld mean spending the challenge *setting up* an environment, not...

I've talked about "going '94" in the other thread, picking an operating systems from 30 years ago. And my first pick would've been OS/2 Warp 3. Now, as it turns out, that version is rather peculiar about the hardware it supports. I've basically got two systems that would even be candidates...

I'm a bit torn when it comes to mobile devices, as I've still got some resentment against laptops and their ilk – way worse when it comes to planned obsolescence and polluting batteries.
