Re: My EDC kit and tech bags
Hehe, it's interesting how different use cases and ways to do things pave the way for very different approaches to things

Re: Adding USB charging to a HP iPAQ from 2004
Oh nice one! In hindsight I wish I hadn't trashed the two Visors I had years ago. I miss them! They're pretty sweet devices, even though they're not the fanciest most useful of PDAs.

Re: My EDC kit and tech bags
Hehe! The slight OCD has that effect it seems. I'm not a big fan of carrying around an unorganized mess. But each to their own!

Adding USB charging to a HP iPAQ from 2004
So, since I'm daily driving this old thing, and I only have the cradle for it, and a knockoff USB cable starts at 10 bucks, I decided to look into adding a USB jack for charging. I dug around in the many boxes of junk and found A USB micro jack on a bit of PCB, probably from a powerbank some time ag...

Re: My EDC kit and tech bags
Hehe, it's some of the few things I can keep track of! lol, those USB sticks should really be rewritten or decomissioned. I made them a couple of years ago and have used I think once, at one point. I've gone the opposite approach with the messenger bag, where I keep a bunch of ISOs on the laptop and...

My EDC kit and tech bags
This is also available on my website with much bigger images: https://stuxnode.com/edc.htm For some context up front, depending on the day I either drive my car, take the bicycle, or am away on work trips, often several days on end. I'll mention this here to help the following weirdness make some m...

Re: Late PPC Macbooks
One thing to bear in mind is that all of the Powerbooks, and even MBP's pre-unibody are insanely flimsy, because they made them as thing as possible. Nearly all of them have a bent frame, corner dents, cracked corner trim and so on. So an iBook would be a better pick. Oh, and the onboard soldered RA...

Re: Late PPC Macbooks
It did indeed start getting shit after that. However, if you're going to venture into PPC Macs and OSX nowadays you really want 10.5 Leopard, because barely any of the available apps work on older versions. It's preferable to completely disable file indexing in the OS though, since it takes up a lot...

y2k mood board
This is hardly a project, and more along the lines of boredom-fuelled shitstabbing. So you see what happened was I stumbled across this tumblr over yonder: https://y2kaestheticinstitute.tumblr.com I thought it was a whole lot of scrolling involved, and anything but self-hosted. So I found some tumbl...
