It's been a while since I've kept my eye on SerenityOS, and today, I find out that the creator of the project, Andreas Kling, is stepping down as BDFL of SerenityOS and is forking Ladybird to focus on being a cross-platform browser, not just SerenityOS-specific. No drama, just a parent letting its children walk on their own and thankful for how they both have improved his life. 💯 ❤️

I was giving this time to see how it unfolded, and it is quite bad. Very disappointed and disheartened as I had high hopes for the projects. :(

I'll delete this thread soon if I can (or if someone could do it on my behalf), but just wanted to respond after all that's come out since the browser project's announcement. I no longer have any interest in this project as a result.

This was the PR I saw: https://github.com/SerenityOS/serenity/pull/6814

The anti-ideology rules appear to be more about maintaining a particular ideology rather than keeping the project genuinely neutral.

Personally I think you should leave it up! I feel like this whole story has unfolded in a really interesting way that demonstrates what we need from a new browser is a leading team that the community feel they can trust to act in their best interests.

One of the current core contributors had some interesting things to say about the change in project leadership, politics, etc.
